Camaron

Background

The Camaron Project is located north of the Vallecillo Project, east of the coastal city of La Serena and approximately 20 kilometres south of the town of Vicuna.
Metminco holds some 133.7 km2 of tenements. Metminco holds part of these tenements in its own right (covering 103.7 km2) and has an option to purchase 100% of the Genesis tenements (covering 30 km2).

Geology

Camaron is a large predominantly gold mineralised system that may be related to a porphyry hydrothermal system, occurring in undulating topography at elevations of approximately 1200-1500 metres. Like Metminco’s other nearby projects, it is relatively accessible.

The Camaron Project contains many surface gossans and large areas of hydrothermal alteration. No known exploration work has been done on the property, except for a few small prospecting pits. However, the regional Vicuna Fault crosses the area and this feature is a known controlling feature on mineralisation further to the south.

Exploration

Broad spaced geochemical sampling along 400 metre spaced lines has returned anomalous copper, gold and molybdenum values. Visible copper oxide mineralisation has been observed on the traverses and in the prospecting pits.

The Camaron Project is prospective for hosting copper-gold-molybdenum mineralisation. The presence of large alteration zones and intrusives along a major regional fault trend suggests good potential for porphyry style or related mineralisation.

Planned future exploration includes reverse circulation drilling of a number of significant low-sulphidation Au anomalies already identified by surface geochemical sampling.
