Loica
The Loica Project is located approximately 100 kilometres south east of Ovalle, and approximately 30km south of the Mollacas Project.
Metminco holds a 100% in Loica.
A large elliptical shaped area of alteration, approximately 4 x 1.5 km in size, occurs towards the south of a spur valley running south off a larger east-west valley. The Loica tenements, totalling 35 km2, cover the southern part of this alteration zone.
Previous exploration includes significant drilling and anomalous surface sampling results. Drilling completed by Hampton at the Loica Project during 2006 intersected significant widths of lower grade copper and molybdenum mineralisation as tabulated below.
Loica is still in an early exploration phase, being only partly drilled. Initial work shows typical characteristics of a large copper-molybdenum porphyry system. Possible future exploration may comprise mapping and geochemical sampling of the breccia zones as a prelude to possible further drill testing.
